Tribute to a Tradition of Innovation and Excellence
A 45-year commitment to innovation and design excellence in the commercial building and construction environment has defined Bentel Associates International as a major multidisciplinary design practice. Their achievements have substantially contributed to the proud reputation of South African architecture both locally and internationally. The Michelangelo Towers in Sandton, the Montecasino complex in
Fourways, Pick ‘n Pay Hypermarkets, The Pavillion Shopping Centre near Durban and Canal Walk in Cape Town are just some of the many examples of Bentel’s original and practical approach to design.
In recognition of their tradition of quality, aesthetics and commercial viability the publication, Professional Management Review
(PMR), has awarded Bentel Associates International the prestigious PMR Diamond Arrow Award for 2005.
This impressive award is a trademark of customer service excellence. It is based on independent surveys conducted by PMR’s research division, PMR Intelligence. PMR has been running annual research surveys on the construction industry and related professions since 1998. Architectural firms are rated by their peers, developers, quantity surveyors, construction companies and consulting engineers.
Several criteria are used to produce ratings; these include the ability to administer the contract, innovative or unusual design, on-time delivery, budget/cost, communication of design, management skills, the role of the firm in the architectural environment and its commitment to transformation.
To be eligible for a Diamond Arrow Award, a company must have the highest overall score and it must be perceived as outstanding.
Since its inception in the late 1960s, Bentel Associates International has been one of South Africa’s foremost pioneers of outstanding architecture. More recently, the challenges of transformation and the company’s expansion into the international arena have served to increase its capabilities and expertise.
The tradition of excellence will continue into the future. As CEO Alf Abrahamsohn says, ‘The last 45 years have created a solid foundation which will enable the company to continue to develop its capabilities and skills, keep on the cutting edge of good architecture, service clients in a comprehensive and responsive manner, and create buildings that enhance the building and construction environment and quality of life.’
